The AC Milan legend has backed Carlo Ancelotti to do a good job at the Santiago Bernabeu but warned him of the high expectations placed upon him
AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini says that Carlo Ancelotti is ready to coach Real Madrid and knows that the club expect instant success. The Italian took over from Jose Mourinho over the summer, having spent the last two seasons at Paris Saint-Germain.
And Maldini, who played alongside and under Ancelotti believes his compatriot will be well-suited to the job, given his winning pedigree.
"He's used to being at winning clubs, ones that want to play good football and be successful," he told Marca.
"He showed that in England, Italy and France, and not many coach can say that. There isn't a single team that Carlo couldn't coach.
"[He'll do] very well, because Carlo has been successful everywhere he's been. All he has to do is win. The club won't be very patient, just as AC Milan wasn't. I'm sure he knows that.
"He calms both the team and its players. We're talking about someone with great knowledge of the game and its tactics."
