Schweinsteiger pleased with 20-minute comeback

Schweinsteiger pleased with 20-minute comeback
The 29-year-old reveals he was glad to mark his three-game absence from the Bayern Munich team by being a 71st-minute substitute in the win over CSKA Moscow
Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has admitted that he is pleased with his 20-minute cameo in the 3-0 victory over CSKA Moscow in Champions League Group D action on Tuesday.

The Germany international had not featured for the Bavarians since being taken off with an ankle injury in the 1-1 draw with Freiburg on August 27.

However, the 29-year-old made his return in the thrashing of the Russian outfit, replacing Toni Kroos on 71 minutes and Schweinsteiger has revealed that his gym sessions are paying dividends.

"It felt OK," he told reporters. "My injury is healing due to time spent in the gym. I'm glad I was able to play 20 minutes."

Pep Guardiola's men, who travel to Gelsenkirchen to face Schalke on Saturday, sit second in the Bundesliga table behind Borussia Dortmund, who have taken maximum points from their opening five games.
