The summer signing reflects on the realisation of his dream to play in the Premier League and reveals the influence of a pair of fellow Romanians formerly at White Hart Lane
hrilled Tottenham summer signing Vlad Chiriches says that his move to White Hart Lane is "something incredible".
The central defender has realised a dream by joining a Premier League team and is keen to impress in north London.
"I'm happy for this transfer," Chiriches told the club's official website. "I'm proud to be at a club like Tottenham. This is, for me, something incredible."
"I always watched the Premier League and I hoped one day I would play for a team there. This dream came true.
"I hope to have opportunities to play and to do well."
Chiriches revealed that countrymen Gheorghe Popescu and Ilie Dumitrescu, who both played for Spurs in 1994-95, were influential in his decision to join Andre Villas-Boas's side.
"They were very good players," he enthused. "I spoke with them before I came here. They told me it's a big club with a big history and it would be something incredible for me.
"They were the golden generation for us; everyone who came after them tried to be like them."
