TEAM NEWS: Ozil starts for Arsenal against Sunderland
The £40 million deadline-day signing from Real Madrid will make his debut against the Black Cats on Saturday afternoon, while Santi Cazorla and Per Mertesacker miss out
New Arsenal signing Mesut Ozil is in Arsene Wenger's starting XI to face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

The Germany international swapped Real Madrid for north London on deadline day, sealing a £40 million move to the Emirates Stadium.

Ozil had reportedly been ill on Friday but is fit to start against Paolo Di Canio's Black Cats, thus making his debut for the Gunners.

Santi Cazorla and Per Mertesacker both miss out on the trip to Wearside, though Thomas Vermaelen is named on the bench after missing several months with a back injury.

Sunderland, meanwhile, hand an immediate start to loan signing Ki Sung-Yueng, while Steven Fletcher, fresh from scoring against Crystal Palace, is handed a first start since March.
