FOOTBALL: Enyimba win 2013 Federation Cup

The Seasiders were playing in their first ever final with an opportunity to win a national title.

They opened scores through Musa Najare before Enyimba equalised via Bright Ejike.

The Warri team went ahead once more and thought that it was finally going to be their turn to celebrate.
The dream of a victorious return to Warri was however cut short. And so was the promise of huge rewards offered by the club's management.

Just as the Seasiders were already thinking of victory, the Aba Millionaires came back into the

game through free-kick specialist Uwadiegwu Ugwu whose kick sailed over the Wolves wall

and beyond Okiemute Odah in goal. The Elephants had forced their way back for the second

time in the game and it was clear that the momentum was with them.

As full time ended 2-2, the encounter went straight to penalties with both teams looking a bit

nervous. Goalkeeper Femi Thomas stayed confident ahead of Warri Wolves' third kick as

Super Eagles defender Azubuike Egwuekwe shot low and tame for him to sweep out easily.

Enyimba kept their nerves till the end to win 5-4 on penalties for their third Federation Cup

crown. Warri Wolves continue their long wait.
