Leinster Rugby have received a huge boost ahead of the 2013-14 season with the news Ireland's Ian Madiganhas signed a new contract which keeps him in Dublin until the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
Madigan has four caps for Ireland and turned out 32 times for the province last term. With Jonathan Sexton gone, it looks likely the fly-half berth will be either Madigan's or new signing Jimmy Gopperth's.
Leinster's new head coach Matt O'Connor was delighted with the news, saying: "He displayed a real level of consistency in his performances last year, which was recognised by his peers in being voted the Players' Player of the Year as well as picking up the Golden Boot award as the top kicker in the PRO12. We are confident that his best years are ahead of him and he can achieve even greater things in the years to come."
